  • Overview

    Manchester Tank and Equipment, a leading manufacturer of low-pressure vessels in North America, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for the Bedford, IN plant. Under the direction of the General Manager, the EHS Manager shall establish and direct the company’s environmental, health and safety programs. Direct, supervise and administer the company’s EHS safety program:

    Responsibilities

    1.                  

    Manage safety compliance by implementing and supporting on-site safety and health programs through on-site training, performing on-site inspections, auditing safety programs, and making recommendation for corrective actions and tracking those actions to closure. Conduct risk hazard assessments and incident investigations and implement safety corrective actions to control hazards identified during surveys. Develop and implement annual Risk Reduction Plan to ensure risk hazards are eliminated or reduced.

    2.                  

    Manage Workers’ Compensation Program. Manage the WC Administrator for self-insured/self-administered sites. Work with the TPA claims adjustor for claims. Manage and approve reserves for all claims and work with the Legal department to resolve and settle claims.

    3.                  

    Manage DOT compliance by ensuring DOT drivers’ records are accurate and complete, as applicable. Ensuring all DOT fleet vehicles are inspected annually as required and DOT inspection records are filed for easy access.

    4.                  

    Work with Engineering on all projects to ensure safety standards are developed into plans from conception. Attend engineering project meetings to review and approve project plans as applicable. Develop and implement electronic Management of Change for all projects and track action items to closure.

    5.                  

    Mange Contractor Safety Program to ensure all contractors meet Company guidelines and assist contracts in gaining ISN approval or completing facility approval when required.

    6.                  

    Develop and implement Industrial Hygiene Sampling plan and ensure plan is conducted as required. Analyze data to ensure exposures are controlled or develop plan to eliminate or reduce exposures.

    7.                  

    Develop and deliver training programs involving health and safety.

               8.

    Manages staff, including providing coaching and training, setting goals, evaluating performance, planning staff assignments and development, and making and approving people management decisions (e.g. recruitment, promotions, terminations, and salary changes).

               9.

    Looks for opportunity to get employees involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.

             10.

    To follow all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.

             11.

    Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety or related area of focus


    • At least 5 years of progressive experience

     

    * Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required. Ability to communicate with employees at all levels, and excellent written and verbal skills are required. Knowledge of federal/state/local safety and Workers’ Compensation regulations is required.

     

    • OSHA 501, ASP, CIH, CSP certification preferred
