Overview

The Benefits/Human Resources Specialist reports to the Vice President of Human Resources at our Franklin Service Center.  He/she will be responsible for the coordination and assistance in many aspects of benefits administration for our plants in North America as well as the Franklin Service Center.  He/she will also perform a range of Human Resource support activities for a fast paced environment, such as maintaining HR records and files, completing monthly reports, preparing communication documents, recruitment, and researching/answering questions.   

 

The successful candidate will be a service oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands-on work style.  This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and is comfortable working on multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Provides proactive day-to-day administrative support for U.S. benefit processes, programs, and plans, such as medical and dental, life/AD&D and disability insurance, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) and COBRA.
  • Responsible for handling all reports, billing and invoices related to healthcare programs.   
  • Act as liaison for sites to research and resolve coverage, claim and administrative problems.
  • Maintain benefits plans, including: tracking employee enrollment activity/eligibility, enrollment/coverage issue escalation and resolution, and assisting with onboarding and offboarding activities related to benefits.
  • Prepares weekly/monthly/quarterly reports, meeting agendas, correspondence, etc.
  • Creates and maintains files of all personnel information for the Franklin Service Center. 
  • Performs administrative duties related to the human resource function including assisting with recruiting efforts, FMLA administration, new hire paperwork/onboarding, scheduling office training assignments, updating policies, handling employment verifications, etc.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of annual benefits open enrollment process and works closely with payroll to ensure accuracy of benefits deductions.
  • Prepares effective and proactive employee communication materials related to benefits plans, open enrollment, wellness programs, etc.
  • Helps with preparation of data and information for annual reporting/participant notification requirements, HR audits, and other compliance needs as required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on benefits administration. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is strongly preferred.  
  • Solid foundational knowledge of benefits/general HR processes, regulations, and laws; familiarity with ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, DOL and IRS regulations.
  • Experience with an HRIS system and/or an online benefits portal, preferably Ultipro.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint to include professional work experience creating tables, charts, graphs, and formulas.
  • Proven ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and handling of sensitive information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and prioritization skills required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
  • Customer-service orientation paired with strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who quickly learns new business processes, new systems and tools. 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well within a fast-paced environment.
